Piers Morgan sues Earl Spencer for defamation after book wrongly named him as editor during Diana gym photo scandal

Earl Spencer faces a defamation lawsuit from Piers Morgan over Spencer's newly published Diana memoir, which wrongly named Morgan as Daily Mirror editor at the time the newspaper printed hidden-camera images of Princess Diana at a gym in 1993. Morgan did not become editor until 1995, making the identification factually wrong. The error has led commentators to question the accuracy of other material in the 384-page book. Buckingham Palace has separately pushed back against other claims in the memoir relating to King Charles.

Spencer alleged that King Charles said 'we'll forget her soon enough' during an argument about whether William and Harry should follow Diana's coffin on foot.
