Police detain a Ukrainian woman believed to be the mother of a boy, 13, found dead in a Munich hotel

German police arrested the woman — reported by Bild to be the boy's Ukrainian mother — after emergency services discovered the 13-year-old's body at the Eden Hotel Wolff on Arnulfstrasse, Munich, at around 9.40am on Wednesday. Officers initially gave his age incorrectly as 12 before issuing a correction. Munich's homicide squad has taken charge of the case and a post-mortem will be conducted to determine cause of death.

Investigators believe the woman killed the child and then turned on herself, though police have yet to formally confirm that version of events.

Forensic teams and a crisis intervention unit supporting a hotel employee were both present at the scene as authorities reviewed CCTV footage from the four-star, 200-room hotel.
