Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies visited Hayden Panettiere's West Hollywood apartment on August 9 after an acquaintance called 911 concerned she was not returning phone calls. When officers knocked, Brian Hickerson came to the door and said she had been 'sick all day and did not feel good,' and police logged no follow-up. Panettiere was found dead in a South Carolina Airbnb on August 16, aged 36, from an accidental fentanyl overdose.
Reportedly, during a hospitalisation shortly before her death, Panettiere told a friend that her phone had been taken by Hickerson.
Residents of her West Hollywood complex had reportedly been told to dial 911 if Hickerson was spotted on the premises, and the DEA is investigating her death.
Former heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko has petitioned a California court for guardianship over the couple's 11-year-old daughter, Kaya, amid concerns about her inheritance.
