Police make a fourth arrest and fear children are being paid to attack Greater Manchester homes thought to house migrants

Greater Manchester Police are investigating 50 reports of criminal damage since 5 October, mostly in Salford but also in Tameside and Stockport. Windows and doors have been smashed and daubed with 'No HMO' and 'Stop the boats'. A pig's head was left outside one door. A 42-year-old man was arrested in Salford on Friday, and a boy aged 13 was held earlier.

Three men, aged 46, 39 and 33, were arrested for conspiracy and later bailed.

Ch Supt Marcus Noden: vulnerable people are being 'exploited and paid' to cause the damage.

Salford council took down banners reading 'IRLAM AND CADISHEAD SAY NO TO MIGRANT HMOs'.
