Police have made no arrests three days after college cheerleader, 19, was shot dead at an Illinois Halloween party

Giana Dettloff, an only child whose family described her as "full of life" with "a very bright future," died after gunshots struck her several times in the chest and pelvis at a Halloween party on East Division Street, Bloomington; paramedics declared her dead at the scene. She had made the two-hour trip from North Central College in Naperville to visit her best friend near Illinois Wesleyan University when firing broke out among a crowd of 150 to 200 people gathered in a shared backyard.
Eight others aged 16 to 22 suffered wounds; witnesses have described the shooter or shooters to police as Black males.
Dettloff was her parents' only daughter and had cheered for 13 years, most recently with Glenbard North High School's North Panthers team.
'My baby G was taken way too soon,' her cousin Kyla Johnson wrote, while police chief Jamal Simington vowed to 'bring those responsible forward for justice.'
