Police hunt the occupants who fled after their car, is chased by officers, hit and killed a woman, 36, in Leeds
A social-media post about the fatal Leeds pursuit, as West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team appeals for dashcam footage to help identify those who fled the abandoned Corsa on Nippet Lane.
A black Vauxhall Corsa struck and killed a 36-year-old pedestrian on Beckett Street in Leeds at 9:52am Thursday, just two minutes after the vehicle ignored officers' attempts to stop it on Harehills Road. It was found abandoned on Nippet Lane shortly afterwards, those inside having fled on foot. West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team has launched a murder investigation and is appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.
The pursuit had been formally authorised before the collision — a circumstance that triggers a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
Detectives have taken the Corsa for forensic examination as they work to identify those who fled the scene.
Police are urging anyone who saw the vehicle on Harehills Road or Beckett Street to call 101 with information.
