Police hunt two suspects after an officer is shot in Nottingham city centre and a suspected sawn-off shotgun is found
The officer sustained a foot injury after making contact with a man and a woman on Angel Row at 4.50am on Sunday. Both suspects ran off and are still at large. A firearm that appeared to be a double-barrelled sawn-off shotgun was photographed lying in the road. Assistant Chief Constable Claire Rukas described it as 'a sobering reminder' of the risks officers face, and the cordon has since been extended to St James's Street.
Forensic teams sealed off a stretch of pubs, bars and takeaways in the heart of the city.
Labour MP Nadia Whittome called the attack 'truly shocking' and wished the officer a speedy recovery.
Local Curtis Jackson, 22: 'someone was in town with a gun ready to use it.'
