Police identify an 'area of interest' off Lewis in the search for two missing fishermen and their boat

Norman Murray, 40, who goes by Tam, and Murdo Morrison, 23, have not been found following the disappearance of the Kilda near Port of Ness on Tuesday. Their crewmate Douglas Craigie was rescued from the sea on Wednesday, a day short of his 50th birthday. The Marine Accident Investigation Branch has established a divers' exclusion zone between the Butt of Lewis and Port of Ness, where specialist officers are now focused on a specific area of interest.

The Kilda departed Brevaig at around 7.30am and was reported overdue later that evening.

HM Coastguard suspended its search on Thursday after gale-force winds hampered the operation.

Chief Inspector Ross McCartney appealed to locals not to endanger themselves by searching the hazardous waters.
