Police identify man in CCTV shortly after appeal over rape and sex assault of two girls, 14, in Oxford

A 20-year-old man from Oxford, arrested on suspicion of rape and sexual assault, has been bailed to return on 14 January. Thames Valley Police say the two 14-year-old victims began talking to four unknown males in Florence Park on 28 July. Two of those males then led them into woodland at nearby Marsh Park, where one girl was raped and the other sexually assaulted.

The attacks occurred between 5.15pm and 6pm, after which the girls made their way out of the park and contacted police.

A boy previously arrested in connection with the case was released without charge after investigators determined he had played no part in the offences.

Det Con Sarah Tibble said officers have used ID parades, forensic searches and phone enquiries.
