Police Scotland confirms 'active inquiries' into Andrew, Epstein and Maxwell's time at Balmoral amid claims women were trafficked there
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who Police Scotland says was present at Balmoral alongside convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell during the period now under active investigation.
The inquiry centres on claims that women were trafficked to Balmoral during visits by Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell in the late 1990s and early 2000s. An undated photo released by US prosecutors during Maxwell's sex-trafficking trial shows Epstein and Maxwell at a log cabin on the Balmoral grounds. Prime Minister Andy Burnham refused to comment, saying police investigations "should properly be independent."
Andrew was already arrested in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office and released under investigation; he denies all wrongdoing.
At least nine UK forces, coordinated by the NPCC, are running separate inquiries linked to the Epstein files, including Thames Valley and Surrey Police.
Flight logs show Andrew and Maxwell flew from Luton to Edinburgh on Epstein's private jet on 1 September 2006, a trip Police Scotland had previously appealed for information about.
