Police Scotland end Yes Scotland finance probe after finding no criminality over claims of 'missing' £1.5m

Campaigners Sean Clerkin and David Hendry had expressed concern that Peter Murrell, the convicted former SNP chief executive, may have had links to Yes Scotland funds. Police Scotland's cybercrime and fraud unit has now closed its assessment of the group and its former boss Blair Jenkins. Officers said 'nothing was identified' to justify further inquiries. Yes Scotland handed over its full accounts in July.
Murrell, who embezzled more than £400,000 from the SNP, is currently serving a prison sentence.
Solicitor Aamer Anwar blamed 'a very basic misunderstanding' of the 2013 accounts.
Anwar branded it 'a desperate attempt' to link Murrell's crimes to Yes Scotland.
