Police Scotland investigate claims women were 'trafficked' to the King's Balmoral estate during Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's stay with Jeffrey Epstein

Police Scotland has confirmed active enquiries into claims that women were trafficked to Balmoral during visits by Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, with the probe described as at a "very early stage." Photographs shown at Maxwell's 2021 sex trafficking trial depict her and Epstein relaxing in a cabin on the estate, while US Department of Justice images appear to show Andrew and Epstein on a shooting trip there.
One woman who travelled with Epstein's party reportedly claimed Andrew personally welcomed the group to the castle during an 1999 visit when the Queen was likely in residence.
Andrew was arrested on his 66th birthday on suspicion of misconduct in public office over separate allegations he shared sensitive information with Epstein during his time as UK trade envoy; he has always denied wrongdoing.
First Minister John Swinney said he 'understands the seriousness' of the allegations, while Prime Minister Andy Burnham refused to be drawn, calling it a matter for police.
