North Wales Police name baby girl is found on Bangor shoreline 'Ceri' and beg her mother to come forward

North Wales Police have named a newborn girl found on the Menai Strait shoreline near Siliwen Road in Bangor, Gwynedd, on 27 September 'Ceri' and launched Operation Melex to identify her parents. A post-mortem indicated she had probably been in the water for several weeks before a member of the public found her. DNA analysis and specialist forensic work are continuing. Officers have asked Ceri's mother to call or text a dedicated confidential line — 07974 241223 — and have given assurances she will be treated with 'compassion, dignity and respect'.
Fiona Giraud, director of midwifery at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, made a direct personal appeal to Ceri's mother to come forward without fear.
Superintendent Llinos Davies has called on anyone who walked regularly in the Ashley Fields area of Bangor since 30 August, or who holds footage from the Siliwen shoreline, to upload it to the Major Incident Public Portal.
Police are also encouraging anyone who had concerns about a woman or girl in recent months to get in touch, stressing that even a detail that 'appears insignificant' could prove crucial.
