Police Scotland sergeant is jailed for 12 years after raping two women over 17 years — the FOURTH officer exposed as a rapist in five months

Campbell Petrie, 50, was sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow on Friday after being convicted of eight charges of physical and sexual abuse — including four counts of rape — against two women between 2006 and 2023. Judge Alistair Watson told Petrie that "the gravity of this kind of sustained criminal conduct cannot be overstated" and said both victims had suffered "deep and enduring psychological harm." Petrie received a 12-year custodial term followed by three years of supervised release, and has been added to the sex offenders register.
Petrie's first arrest came in 2009 over threatening behaviour; he was released, subsequently PROMOTED to sergeant, and went on to commit further offences.
Within a five-month period, four serving or former Police Scotland officers have been unmasked as rapists — Petrie joins Alan Greer, Cameron Ross and John Williamson.
A further 45 serving Police Scotland officers remain suspended on charges relating to violence against women and girls.
