Celebrity Traitors winners Romesh Ranganathan and Sebastian Croft spark fury by handing their £83,000 BBC prize to refugee charities
Romesh Ranganathan, the comedian who won Celebrity Traitors for his charity, dedicated the victory to his youngest son Charlie, who had urged him to enter.Claudia Winkleman with Faithfuls Romesh Ranganathan and Sebastian Croft. James Blunt handed the pair their win by voting for a further banishment after the Traitors had already been eliminated.
Viewers erupted online after Romesh Ranganathan donated his £41,500 share to the Refugee Council, while fellow winner Sebastian Croft gave his half to Choose Love, a charity supporting queer refugees. One angry viewer demanded producers should have "vetoed those choices from the get-go," while another fumed the money should have gone to homeless UK veterans.
TalkTV presenter Julia Hartley-Brewer called the outcome "the most BBC thing EVER," adding: "Of COURSE the two winners are donating our licence fee money to refugee charities."
