Police take no action against the PM's national security adviser's wife over a Palestine Action post despite the group's terror ban

Sarah Helm, the journalist wife of Jonathan Powell, wrote on X: 'God help us authors who support Palestine and Palestine Action.' Specialist Met officers ruled the post did not meet the criminal threshold. The Campaign Against Antisemitism had demanded an investigation, warning the post 'raises extremely serious questions' for Powell. The Met first said on Friday that it was assessing the post, then closed the matter on Saturday.

Helm was backing Sally Rooney, whose novels have been pulled from UK shops.

Supporting Palestine Action, banned in July 2025, can carry 14 years in prison.

No 10 said Helm 'does not represent the Government in any capacity'.
