Filip Stasiuk, 26, arrived from Poland aged eight, sat his GCSEs in the city and, Upper Tribunal Judge Bruce accepted, 'thinks of himself as a Liverpudlian rather than being Polish'. None of it saved him. Selling drugs on and off since 17 and jailed for 30 months in 2023, he was caught again in Widnes in June 2025 with £270 and a phone full of messages selling cocaine and cannabis.

Upper Tribunal Judge Bruce called not knowing where to start 'the reality faced by many young migrants'.

'Pick up where he left off': how PC Nicholls of Widnes Proactive CID described Filip Stasiuk's reoffending.

Guilty pleas, rehab courses and an absent father did not 'come close', Upper Tribunal Judge Bruce ruled.
