Prestwich man is charged with criminal damage to a Salford house as police probe attacks on up to 50 HMOs

Ruben Brito, 35, of Chapel Road, Prestwich, has been charged with two counts of causing criminal damage to a property on Littleton Road in the Kersal area of Salford, with the alleged damage occurring on 18 and 22 October 2026. He has been bailed and is due to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on 3 March 2027. He has not yet entered a plea.

Up to 50 houses have been attacked across Salford, Tameside and Stockport in recent weeks, with 'No HMO' daubed on doors and windows.

Seven people in total have been arrested as part of the wider investigation, including five men, a woman and a 13-year-old boy.

Brito's charge is the first to be brought as Greater Manchester Police continue probing the coordinated campaign against houses in multiple occupation.
