Primark recalls Halloween gonk decorations because sand filling inside them may be 'contaminated with asbestos'

Primark has recalled two Halloween gonk decorations — the Witch Mini Gonk and the Pumpkin Gonk — after the Office for Product Safety & Standards warned that the sand used as filling inside them may be contaminated with asbestos. Both items were made in China. Shoppers are urged to stop using them immediately and bring them back to any Primark store, where a full refund will be given without the need for a receipt. Asbestos is a prohibited substance; even brief exposure poses a health risk.
Intact gonks should be sealed inside a heavy-duty plastic bag, double-taped and labelled, then stored away from children until they can be returned.
If a gonk has been damaged and its filling is accessible, customers should put on gloves and a mask, clean surfaces with wet cloths, and place all waste in a double bag.
The products affected are the Witch Mini Gonk (991174794) and the Pumpkin Gonk (991179148) — both distinguishable by their seasonal hats and grey or orange detailing.
