Amazon Prime Video has secured UK and Ireland rights to 'Diana: Her Secret Confessions', a three-part documentary built around the full five hours of secret audio recordings Diana made with her friend Dr James Colthurst in 1991. The tapes — which cover her marriage to King Charles III, his relationship with Queen Camilla, Prince Andrew, and her hopes for William and Harry — underpinned Andrew Morton's explosive 1992 book 'Diana: Her True Story'. Producer Love Monday TV claims this is the first time audiences will hear the complete recordings, not just excerpts. The release is timed to the 30th anniversary of Diana's death in 2027.
The tapes were recorded in secret at Kensington Palace and later smuggled out, according to the production team.
Cineflix Rights is also selling the series — internationally titled 'Diana Unheard' — to an undisclosed US network and has secured first-window rights in Australia.
Producer Kerene Barefield says the all-female team wants to show Diana 'not as a passive victim of events but as a strong woman risking everything to take control of her own narrative.'
