Prince Harry and Meghan Markle hate being called 'working royals' and object to the 'former royals' label, friend claims

A friend of the Sussexes branded 'working members of the royal family' a 'really lazy phrase', adding: 'He hates it, she hates it.' The friend insisted Harry is still the King's son and 'a member of the royal family', just not of the institution. Meghan is 'running a business seven days a week', the friend said. The row follows their first joint UK engagement since returning, in Nottingham's St Ann's.

Buckingham Palace said in 2020 they were 'no longer working members of the Royal Family'.

A Lord Chamberlain letter called their position 'akin to private citizens'.

One Nottingham heckler yelled: 'You were never royals... You are not our royals.'
