Prince Harry has said reconciliation with his family is his priority, as he keeps his diary clear during King Charles's nine-day Caribbean tour to avoid overshadowing his father.

Prince Harry, 42, has kept his schedule free for the next two weeks, saying he is "mindful" not to overshadow King Charles's nine-day Caribbean tour of the Bahamas, Guyana and Antigua and Barbuda. Harry and Meghan, 45, who returned to the UK as private citizens in August, are planning to use the half-term break to spend time with Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five.

The King, 77, launched his tour on October 27 with a speech acknowledging the "great suffering of the past" linked to the legacy of slavery.

The couple have one further joint public engagement scheduled before the year is out, though no details have been released.

Timing has caused friction before — Harry's GQ interview calling for reconciliation with Charles and William came out on the same day royals were hosting the Sultan of Oman at Windsor Castle.
