Prince Harry told GQ he came back to the UK to be 'closer' to his family, adding: 'Some people don't want it to work out. I want it to work out.' Royal commentator Nick Ede, a former friend of Meghan Markle, says William has one condition for any reunion. Any talks must stay strictly private. Ede says William is 'fiercely protective of Catherine' and wary of fresh revelations.

The brothers have been estranged since Harry quit royal duties in 2020 and published 'Spare'.

Ede warned that 'forgiveness and trust are two very different things'.
