Princess Diaries star Erik von Detten is sued by US couple aged 97 and 85 over $2.1m gold coin deal

Sheila Greenberg, 85, and her husband Norman, 97, claim the Lady Liberty gold coins they paid $2.1 million for are worth just $1.3 million. The San Diego-area couple say they called Rosland Capital after seeing a TV advert in 2020 and were put through to von Detten. They allege he told them to leave the decisions to him. They are seeking $900,000 plus punitive damages, and the claims are unproven.

Von Detten's employer, Rosland Capital, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in July.

He allegedly persuaded them to put $114,000 more into gold from a family trust.

Von Detten played Josh Bryant opposite Anne Hathaway and voiced Sid in 'Toy Story'.
