Princess Kate dons hard hat for treehouse hospice visit after reuniting with Prince George for half-term

Princess Kate made a special visit to The Treehouse hospice in Ipswich, wearing a hard hat, as Prince George, 13, arrived home from Eton for a 16-day 'long leave' break. The half-term break runs until 8 November. Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, eight, are also home from Lambrook School, bringing the Wales family together as a five. Shopper Denise Ashton, 68, said the family 'may be going somewhere' during the break.

At Café 98 in Hoveton, the Princess of Wales told a child: 'I can't wait to have them all home.'

She had earlier worn a hard hat at The Treehouse hospice in Ipswich, which she opened in 2012.

At Eton, a 'rip' is the penalty for substandard work: the upper portion of the page is removed as a mark of censure.
