Prosecutors say a woman accused of syringe-stabbing a rabbi let a man go because he was Muslim
Anna Mochalova is accused of stalking a 26-year-old rabbi in Manhattan's Diamond District on Wednesday and jabbing him with a syringe. Minutes later, prosecutors say, she targeted a man wearing a yarmulke two blocks away and told him: 'I have a gun.' She faces hate crime charges. Judge Linda Capitti set bail at $50,000, citing surveillance video of the attacks.
Prosecutor Emily Hong: 'She selected both of her targets because she believed them to be Jewish.'
Defence lawyer Lila Carpenter claims 'there may be an ID issue' and says Mochalova has no prior arrests.
Manhattan Shomrim's Yitty: 'Having her back outside is just a danger to everybody.'
