Palestine Action co-founder is appealing the government's decision to designate the group as a terrorist organisation under anti-terrorism laws, with the UK's Supreme Court opening its hearing on Wednesday. The group contends that terrorist activity accounts for no more than one per cent of what it does.

Several supporters were arrested outside the Supreme Court during the hearing, including actor Alfred Enoch.

The government proscribed Palestine Action last year, making it the first environmental and Palestine solidarity group to be banned under terrorism legislation.

If the appeal fails, members face prosecution simply for belonging to the organisation.
