Q actor Ben Whishaw says James Bond 'needs to be reinvented completely' and confirms he won't return for the reboot

Ben Whishaw, 46, who played Q in three Craig-era Bond films, says he will not appear in the reboot and calls the franchise's portrayal of his character's sexuality "unsatisfying" — a brief nod to a same-sex date in 'No Time to Die' was never followed up.

Callum Turner, Jack Lowden and Josh O'Connor are among the names reportedly in contention for the 007 role as auditions near their final stages.

Amazon MGM Studios took full control of the franchise last year, with 'Peaky Blinders' creator Steven Knight writing the new script.

Whishaw dismissed the swirling speculation as 'all deliberate hype — it's a ploy to create suspense and glamour, but it's kind of fun.'
