Quant hedge funds reap gains of up to 31% as global bond sell-off pushes US yields to a 24-year high
From the Newshound archive · first published 3 October 2026.
Computer-driven trend-following funds have capitalised on a historic bond rout, with the 10-year US Treasury yield hitting 5.342% on 1 October — its highest since 2002 — as Iran conflict fears, surging oil prices and sticky inflation fuel expectations that rates will stay elevated.
Not all funds won: Taula Capital's TSO fund lost 12.2% in September alone after betting European rates would fall, leaving it down 12.8% since its March launch.
