Rashawn Donovan, 48, of 149th Street in South Ozone Park, Queens, was taken into custody on Saturday evening. He faces two counts of attempted murder plus assault and weapons charges. The 39-year-old woman shot by an officer was struck in the shoulder, leg and chest after she advanced on police with a knife. NYPD Chief of Patrol Philip Rivera said police do not believe she carried out the home invasion.

A wounded man called out from a window identifying his uncle as the person who had stabbed him.

Both a 23-year-old and a 39-year-old man suffered stab wounds in the attack.

Officers discovered three people struggling together on a bedroom floor, with the woman on top.
