MMA fighter Joshua Allen, son of celebrity chef Rachel Allen, appeared before Midleton District Court on Thursday facing a raft of charges allegedly committed in the Shanagarry area of Cork last October. He has been given until October 8th to decide whether to enter a signed plea or contest his case, with the judge marking the matter as peremptory against the defendant.

Allen, 26, faces charges including assaulting two gardaí, driving at a garda at speed, dangerous driving, driving while intoxicated, and possessing a knife and ketamine.

The judge pushed back against the adjournment request, citing Justice Minister Jim O'Callaghan's public criticism of courts granting delays too readily.
