Daryl Mayhew, a retired Royal Air Force officer from Redbourn in Hertfordshire, died on September 19 after falling into the sea while parasailing off St Julian's, Malta. Strong winds are thought to have driven the pair rapidly downward about a mile and a half from the shore. His wife Dawn, 60, was seriously injured in the same incident, and police have opened an investigation.
Towed behind a boat beneath a parachute canopy, the couple were struck by the winds at around 1pm.
