Ramaswamy admits making Ohio ad where Amy Acton's estranged mother calls her a 'liar' — and backs it with $4m

Vivek Ramaswamy's campaign says the spot is 'a campaign-ending moment for Amy Acton'. Court records show Donna Arthur's husband, Cledith Arthur, was charged in 1978 with raping Acton, then 12. Acton says her mother 'did nothing to protect me' and stayed married to him until he died. Polls show Ramaswamy trailing by up to seven points before the November 3 vote.

Arthur tells viewers: 'She lies about her past... she's lied her entire life.'

Acton's brother Philip Stearns branded the ad 'disgusting' and 'a despicable low'.

GOP strategist David Urban warned the $4m gamble could backfire on Ramaswamy.
