Rape victim who was attacked on her first day at uni speaks out after her attacker walks FREE with a suspended sentence and appeal bid is rejected

A woman raped on her first night at Hartpury College has urged other victims to come forward after her attacker, Thomas Woodall, walked free. Woodall, 16 at the time of the 2023 attack and now 19, was convicted at Cirencester of rape and sexual assault by digital penetration, but Judge Ian Lawrie handed him three years suspended, 200 hours of unpaid work and £4,380 in costs, citing youth guidelines that prioritise rehabilitation.
Woodall's barrister argued he was immature for 16 and posed no risk of future harm.
'It changed who I used to be, someone I never will be again,' she told the court.
Detective Constable Elle Macleod called her strength giving evidence before a jury 'remarkable' and urged other victims to report.
