Angela Rayner says EU free movement is not 'off the table' and voters will get the final say
Housing Secretary Angela Rayner told Laura Kuenssberg that Andy Burnham 'can't rule things out', even though the Prime Minister promised Makerfield voters in the summer he would not re-run 2016. Labour's 2024 manifesto explicitly ruled free movement out. Rayner blamed Brexit for a 20 per cent fall in exports. Burnham wants an 'honest discussion' before next month's UK-EU summit.
Makerfield voted heavily to Leave, yet it elected Remainer Burnham as its MP in June.
Robert Jenrick raged at the prospect of free movement returning to Britain.
Rayner insisted reopening the door to EU migrants is 'just pragmatism'.
