The Princess of Wales welcomed afternoon tea guests to Windsor Castle last Tuesday — fellow Three Peaks Challenge participants and their families — gathering together the remarkable people she had met during her gruelling June climb. Among them was Ted Haslam, 11, a wheelchair user from Sutton Coldfield who conquered all three peaks carried and pushed by his father Pete, supported by 15 family members and friends. Kate, who announced she was in remission from cancer in January 2025, said "behind every summit was a personal story of resilience, determination and hope."
Ted's challenge was a fundraising effort for Molly Olly's Wishes, a charity supporting seriously ill children; Kate had met him on Ben Nevis and donated to his campaign.
Trish Patterson, who set a women's record by completing the Three Peaks on foot in five days and 21 hours, was also among those at the gathering.
Kate's June challenge was undertaken to raise funds for a new holistic wellbeing centre at the Royal Marsden Hospital, where she had received her own cancer treatment.
