Reform clears its own aides over Channel 4 donations sting, but Met criminal probe continues

Reform UK's internal inquiry has cleared senior aides Dan Jukes and James Orr of breaking electoral law after undercover footage showed them apparently discussing how to channel a £500,000 foreign donation into the party. The 27-page report, conducted by Reform's own legal adviser and general secretary, found "no evidence that any laws were broken" — but the Metropolitan Police criminal investigation into the same allegations remains ongoing. Labour chair Bridget Phillipson branded the findings a "whitewash", while critics noted Reform investigated itself with no independent oversight.
The Channel 4 sting, broadcast on September 3, showed Jukes appearing to suggest a US donor's money could be funnelled through his UK-based son, while Orr was recorded saying the party could 'easily get away with it'.
Both men remain suspended from party duties until the Met's separate criminal investigation concludes, with Reform threatening "aggressive legal action" against Verbatim Investigations.
'You can find more whitewash in this report than at your local B&Q,' Phillipson said, insisting the findings "exonerate" nobody.
