Laila Cunningham, who says roughly one in three London women are too afraid to leave their own homes, is seeking to unseat Sadiq Khan as Mayor of London.

Two of Laila Cunningham's seven children have had knives pulled on them in the streets of their own London neighbourhood, and the former criminal prosecutor is now seeking to unseat Sadiq Khan as Mayor. Cunningham points out that the Metropolitan Police solves just seven per cent of reported crimes, that police stations have shut across the capital, and that the force is thousands of officers below strength. Khan, she contends, devotes more energy to reassuring Londoners than to keeping them safe.

Cunningham's pitch cites figures showing roughly one in three women in London are afraid to leave their own homes.
