Reform UK councillor is charged with 35 offences including 12 counts of rape and is suspended by the party

George Madgwick, 37, a Hampshire County Council member, faces 35 charges brought by the Crown Prosecution Service following a police inquiry into allegations made by four victims who were aged 16 to 17 at the time. The offences allegedly took place between 2008 and 2021 in Portsmouth and Wales. Madgwick was arrested in Wandsworth, London, in January and is bailed to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates Court on November 25.
The charges also include false imprisonment, stalking, making a threat to kill, and sharing indecent images of a child.
Hampshire Police opened the investigation in July 2025 when a sexual offence was reported to them — more than a decade after the alleged conduct began.
Reform UK suspended Madgwick 'with immediate effect' after the CPS announced its decision to prosecute.
