Refugee charity chosen by a Celebrity Traitors winner to receive £41,500 of BBC prize money has accused Israel of 'genocide'
The Choose Love pop-up store on Regent Street, whose funds from Sebastian Croft's prize will go "predominantly" to queer refugees, according to the actor.Claudia Winkleman with Faithfuls Romesh Ranganathan and Sebastian Croft. James Blunt handed the pair their win by voting for a further banishment after the Traitors had already been eliminated.
Choose Love, which will receive £41,500 from 'Heartstopper' actor Sebastian Croft's Celebrity Traitors winnings, states on its website that Palestinians 'are still experiencing a genocide' and last year signed an open letter demanding Britain ban arms sales to Israel. The BBC, bound by strict impartiality rules enshrined in its charter, effectively directed licence-fee money to the organisation by hosting the show.
Choose Love also funded the legal challenge against the Rwanda deportation scheme, covering staff costs for Asylum Aid — a case it lost.
Sadiq Khan publicly backed the charity choices, wading in to defend Ranganathan and Croft after the backlash erupted.
