Reparations activists slam Democrat states for using slavery history to fund payments to immigrants and wider groups

The US Freedmen Project, a grassroots organisation of descendants of enslaved Americans, is calling out Democrat-run states for invoking slavery and Jim Crow to justify reparations programmes that then extend payments to immigrants and non-descendants. Spokesperson Annette Wilcox stated: 'You're using one group of people's history to then give remedies to a wider group.' New Jersey Democrats are pushing legislation that could include residents with no ancestral link to slavery.
