Republican senator Lisa Murkowski says the DOJ 'should never have filed' the Alaska Senate lawsuit Trump says he ordered
President Donald Trump boasted 'I'm the one that said "do it"' about the suit, which seeks to block certification if Senator Dan S. Sullivan loses to Democrat Mary Peltola. Peltola's campaign and the DSCC asked a federal judge late on Friday to let them join the case. They branded it 'an unprecedented pre-emptive strike on democratic elections'. Election Day is now less than a fortnight away.
The Alaska Supreme Court already ruled in June that Daniel J. Sullivan stays on the ballot.
Notre Dame law professor Derek Muller called it 'one of the worst' legal arguments he has seen.
Daniel J. Sullivan, a retired Petersburg teacher, says he inherited the name from his father and grandfather.
