Ruth Langsford, 66, revealed on Instagram that her border collie cross Maggie has died aged 16, telling her 1.1 million followers the passing was "painless and peaceful." The pair had adopted Maggie from Dogs Trust in 2011, with Ruth continuing to care for her after her split from Eamonn Holmes in 2024. Celebrity friends including Amanda Holden, Gemma Atkinson, Vogue Williams and Vanessa Feltz flooded her tribute post with messages of condolence.
Holmes, who has been in hospital recovering from a stroke since April, had previously praised Ruth for "doing all the hard stuff" with Maggie due to his wheelchair restrictions.
Ruth had previously broken down in tears on 'Loose Women' in 2023 when the panel discussed losing a pet, saying Maggie was "a bit grey" and that she dreaded the day.
Ruth has reportedly been tending to her frail ex following his stroke — despite the pair's divorce being described as one of the most bitter in showbusiness.
