Richard E Grant has confessed he has no idea what came over him when he immediately blew his cover as a Traitor on Celebrity Traitors, telling fellow contestant Amol Rajan: "I think I just went mad." The actor, chosen by host Claudia Winkleman as one of two Traitors, announced his secret role to other players almost as soon as the game began.

Grant told Rajan he was "so thrilled" at being picked as a Traitor that he let it slip in "unguarded excitement."

Rajan, who was subsequently 'murdered' by Grant and fellow Traitor Maya Jama in episode two, revealed the exchange in his personal newsletter.
