Richard E. Grant, pictured in Celebrity Traitors with a fellow contestant in October 2026, has denied staging the blunder that saw him expose his Traitor role within moments of being sworn to secrecy.

Production staff on the BBC show were reportedly convinced the actor engineered his early exit, with one reportedly insisting: 'Richard E Grant is not a stupid man.' Grant hit back in an Instagram story on Tuesday, calling the suggestion 'categorically false'. He said he has been an avid fan since the show's debut. Being chosen as a Traitor, he wrote, was 'an absolute dream'.

Picked as a Traitor with Maya Jama, Grant confessed his role to several contestants.

Jama and recruit James Acaster both voted to banish him at the first roundtable.

Grant later branded his early reveal a 'catastrophically idiotic thing to do'.
