Richard E. Grant has brushed off the chaos he caused on Celebrity Traitors, after blowing his cover within five minutes of being selected as a Traitor by openly telling comedian Joe Lycett 'I'm a Traitor' in the castle lounge — the biggest self-sabotage in the show's history. Lycett responded with a baffled 'You what?!' before Grant spent the rest of the episode frantically claiming it was an 'I am Spartacus!' double bluff. Executive producer Sarah Fay reacted to the "insane moment", saying it triggered 'a little bit of sick coming up in my mouth', while Grant himself admitted it 'may be the biggest mistake I've ever made in my life.'
Grant is one of two Traitors this series, alongside Love Island host Maya Jama, 32, who declared 'my villain era has begun.'
Jerry Hall defended Grant, insisting 'I've known him 30 years, he's my neighbour — he says and does eccentric things.'
Fay said: 'Never in our wildest dreams did we think we'd have a Traitor admit they were a Traitor five minutes after the Round Table!'
