Richard Riehle, the Office Space star who appeared in over 400 films and TV shows, dies aged 78

Richard Riehle died last Thursday in Los Angeles, reportedly of natural causes, and his representatives confirmed the news on Monday. He was best loved as Tom Smykowski, the laid-off Initech product manager who built a 'Jump to Conclusions' mat. He also played the guard whose lapse let Harrison Ford's character escape in The Fugitive. Wright Entertainment said the industry had 'lost an exceptional talent'.

Grounded for Life co-star Donal Logue called him 'an actor's actor — humble, kind'.

He was Hollywood's go-to Santa Claus, including in Two and a Half Men.

The Wisconsin-born actor fell into acting as a student at Notre Dame.
