Jake Reiner, 35, has broken his silence eight months after his parents Rob and Michele Reiner were stabbed to death in their Brentwood home, saying the grief has turned to "rage" over what he could not prevent. His sister Romy, 28, discovered their father's body and called Jake — who had initially screened the call — to deliver the news, then told him she could not find their mother. Nick Reiner, 32, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and has pleaded not guilty, with a pre-trial hearing set for September 15.

Jake confirmed he has not spoken to Nick since the killings and has not attended any of his brother's court appearances.

Rob and Michele 'never stopped helping' Nick through addiction and a schizophrenia diagnosis, Jake said — a struggle loosely depicted in the 2015 film 'Being Charlie'.

Asked whether he had ever feared Nick was capable of this, Jake smiled and replied: 'I don't think I want to answer that one.'
