Robbie Williams is tipped for a knighthood in the New Year Honours after his tax affairs are cleared

Robbie Williams, 52, was reportedly blocked from receiving an OBE because of his involvement with Ingenious Media, a £700 million scheme HMRC labelled tax avoidance. A probe into his tax affairs has since given them a 'green-flagged' clearance. The charity and philanthropy committee has nominated him on the strength of his Unicef work and his role as founder of Soccer Aid. Final approval still rests with the main honours committee, the PM and the King.

Williams has reportedly 'raised hundreds of millions for charity'.

David Beckham, who faced a similar entanglement in the Ingenious dispute, received a knighthood in 2025 following clearance by HMRC.

This year marked the 20th edition of Soccer Aid, which Williams founded in 2006.
