Romanian arsonist is deported after targeting Keir Starmer's home in suspected Russian diplomat plot

Stanislav Carpiuc, 28, has been removed from the UK and banned from re-entry after serving his sentence for conspiring to set fire to Keir Starmer's constituency home, a car once owned by the former prime minister, and an Islington flat linked to him. Carpiuc and Ukrainian co-conspirator Roman Lavrynovych, 22, were recruited via the encrypted Telegram app by a Russian-speaking handler known as 'El Money', who offered £3,000 in cryptocurrency if the blazes were filmed and made the news.
A BBC investigation after the conviction linked the 'El Money' account to Evgeny Lyukshin, 23, alleged to be the son of a senior Russian diplomat with access to NATO and CIA documents.
Starmer's sister-in-law Judith Alexander, who was living in his Kentish Town home with her partner and nine-year-old daughter, was left struggling to breathe during the attack.
Lavrynovych, who carried out the fires, was jailed for seven years; Carpiuc, who planned logistics and handled payment arrangements, received two years.
